DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR DUTIES

Under the Deputy Director of the Division of Codes and Standards manages division programs and functions including Uniform Construction Code Licensing & Education; Landscape Irrigation and the Asbestos Hazard Abatement/Lead Hazard Safety Programs; Personnel and Logistics/Resource Management; Fiscal and Budgeting; Information Systems Support and Development; and Housing Research and Statistical Reporting. Directs and supervises all activities, ensuring the Division is properly equipped to provide effective and efficient programs, services, and enforcement in the field.
REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience. Eleven (11) years of professional experience in construction project management, training and education, a regulatory or code enforcement program, or certification and licensing programs, or developing and administering housing for low- and moderate-income families, or housing assistance programs, three (3) years of which shall have been in a managerial capacity. OR Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and seven (7) years of the above-mentioned professional experience, three (3) years of which shall have been in a managerial capacity. OR Possession of a license as a Registered Architect or a Professional Engineer's License valid in the State of New Jersey; and seven (7) years of the above-mentioned professional experience, three (3) years of which shall have been in a managerial capacity. OR Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Construction Management, or related field; and six (6) years of the above-mentioned professional experience, three (3) years of which shall have been in a managerial capacity. NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the authority to act according to one's own judgment and make accurate and informed decisions.

Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
